I just migrated my work PC to Windows 8 Enterprise. My company uses EAP-TLS for authentication and my user certificate is signed using a 1,024 bit RSA key.
For some reason the Windows 8 802.1X supplicant will not allow you to select a user certificate thats uses anything lower than a 2,048 bit RSA key. I can select any certificate in my store that uses a 2,048 bit key but not my corporate certificate. The corporate certificate works fine on Windows 7 and Apple devices so I know there is nothing wrong with the certificate itself. I see the same issue on multiple Windows 8 systems!
I have asked this question before but recieved no answer from Microsoft or the community. I assume this is a bug but it could also be a restriction in Windows 8 that is preventing certificate signed by a specific size from being used by the 802.1X supplicant.
I can't be the only person seeing this issue so any information or insight would be appreciated!
